Our Story.

Since 2016, Theatre Corner has dedicated itself to promoting diversity and inclusion in the national theatre scene. Beginning as a print series in San Diego’s Voice & Viewpoint newspaper, Theatre Corner quickly evolved into an online video series, publishing episodes across multiple platforms. Episodes consist of interviews with local and celebrity talent, ranging from all professions in the theatre industry.

Our host, Michael Taylor, is currently the only African-American male serving on the Board of Directors at The Old Globe, the fifth largest regional theatre in the country. Shortly after his historic appointment, Taylor created Theatre Corner as a way to showcase the talent of Black artists performing at the Globe, and to engage potential theater-goers within San Diego’s small and decentralized Black community. Since then, Theatre Corner has spread out to many theaters and has featured talent from across the nation.

Now, Theatre Corner has made its way to public television and is now available on KPBS and PBS.org.
